The other day I met Ryan Farrell, a cool young dude who pointed me to this project he’d done: he photocopied an entire episode of friends (I’m not sure how—maybe he held his computer monitor to the Xerox machine?) and then used a typewriter to copy out the dialog. “I used to have this job working with some very old-timey graphic designers from The Soviet Union and they got me into the romance of literally cut-and-pasted graphic design,” he said by way of explination.
The result is a fun little flip-book of nineties culture. Why yes, he is using a pay phone…
