In OBSOLETE I write a little bit about how push buttons are becoming obsolete. Buttons on phones have been reduced to tiny little things. It’s like the phone companies are almost embarrassed that they have to include them at all. There seems to be a direct correlation between how modern something looks and how few buttons it has.

Mostly, buttons are now mere ideas. They are squares (or even just links) that we touch on screens. But you know what? I miss buttons! That springy feeling, the cold, smooth surface under your thumb…

You know what had good buttons? Video games in the 1980s. Check out this guys button-tastic device. (via Gizmodo)

I found some great images that Brian Cook took of this book about yesteryear’s computers. I feel like I remember flipping through books just like this in third grade. Quite the reminder of how far we’ve come.

Amazing in their ability to keep me from doing anything else with my life other than staring at one? Yes, Amazing.

That poor family! They all had to gather around one little computer. Why, is that Tiny Tim in the background?

This next one is funny mostly because this is my signature dance move. No, really.

I’m going to recreate this last  one for you all later in the week. Can you handle it?
